Sommeren 2000 var jeg med på to båtreiser over Vestfjorden, havstykket mellom Bodø og Lofoten.

Midnattsol i Rafsundet
På den første turen, ombord på Hurtigruta, arbeidet jeg med første satsen. Den ble preget av øyeblikket da midnattsola slo inn gjennom vinduene på toppdekket da vi hadde passert Raftsundet på vei opp til Vesterålen. Blikkstille og vakkert - unikt og storslått.

Røstlandet
Andre reisen gikk med båt fra Bodø via Røst til Moskenes. Da jobbet jeg med andre satsen. Været viste seg igjen fra sin beste side og på blikkstille hav materialiserte Røstlandet som et alveland i vest i havet.

Lysdans
Den siste satsen er en dans om lykkelige, solfylte øyeblikk.

Midsummer year 2000 I went by boat accross Vestfjorden two times, a fiord between Bodø and the Lofot Islands.

Midnight Sun in Rafsundet

 
On the first boat trip with Hurtigruta, I worked on the first movement. Beautiful scenery with the midnight sun burning in the horizon, inspired the music in the first movement.

Røst Islands

On the second tour I went with a ferry to Røst, west from Bodø, and then to the Lofot Islands again. Røst is more than hundered small islands. It is also called the land of elfs or the blue land.

Happy memories of sun and moments of joy.
